Between the high grade 316 stainless steel and the thickness of 16 gauge out fire pits have a much greater resistance to chemical attack and are more durable. 316 steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless with superior corrosion resistance particularly against chlorides and chlorinated solutions.
